Shrinking The Ingredient Deck of Homemade Meals Using This Cool New Kitchen Appliance

Dry goods in kitchen pantry

Sometimes I feel like a broken record. When assessing your health and your food supply, knowing the ingredients you put into your body is a HUGE step in monitoring and accurately supporting your health goals. Since 1975, the United States has added 10,000 chemicals into the food supply chain. In the EU, only 300 food additives are allowed. Those numbers are shocking! Chemicals are being created to be included in our processed foods. Processed foods are found on grocery store shelves, refrigerated and freezer sections that then make their way home and into your regular cooking routine. Processed foods are also in fast food restaurants, dining establishments, and in our beverages. I understand, we are busy and need things quickly to navigate our over-scheduled lives most days of the week. Choosing between convenience vs time is often not a choice, it’s a necessary way to sustain the basic human need for survival…consuming calories.

I used to work two jobs everyday, and during this economic time, I can imagine many people may be working even three jobs a day, let alone managing their home life. Sometimes convenience is the only opportunity to eat. But eating anywhere from 0-10,000 chemicals in a meal or snack, what risks may be associated with that decision for one day, one week, one month, one year, one decade, one lifetime? With health care costs only increasing, and per the government healthcare spending, this epidemic is really a health crisis and the one who suffers is you, your parents, your child(ren), your friends…What can you do?

Take Back Control of Your Health in the Kitchen…

Almond cow alternative dairy beverage
Almond Cow

So, this week, I was SUPER excited to try a simple way to make my own alternative dairy beverage using the Almond Cow, this is a great and versatile kitchen appliance or tool. Let’s just say…this will make its way into my regular meal preparation routine and I can’t wait to discover more about it. I’ve posted a few unboxing videos of the machine on YouTube and Instagram, but here’s the first one below.

If you want to purchase one yourself, here’s a referral link (this link includes $25 off your purchase)!

Needless to say…this is my new favorite kitchen tool. I can easily make my own beverage, controlling the ingredients I want, adding flavor, spices, and sweetness to my desire, as well as making endless creations. Another amazing feature is that the waste is minimal to none. And this is because, the machine blends whatever you put into the filter basket (maximum amount of 1 cup), and this mixture can then be used in various ways such as eaten as is, mixed in muffins, batters, smoothies, and so forth. The cleanup is simple and I don’t have to deal with the messiness of using a cheese or mesh strainer (like I did with making milk kefir).

So for those that want to take back control of their health, this machine may be a beautiful addition to your pantry too! Let me know what you’ve created and if you have any suggestions. I’ll be posting recipes for both beverage ideas and “leftover basket” creations. Almond cow also has a recipe book, so until I can post, check out their ideas too! If you need help deciding what your health goals are, how to feel better with your diet choices, and understanding which supplements are necessary for you, please reach out to me.
