BOARD BALM

I used to surf years ago when I lived an amazing (and hard) year when I did a student exchange in Hawaii during college. I learned a lot about the ocean, navigating by myself, and connecting with nature...plus some school work 😏. During that time, surfers used wax to coat the board to better grip while catching a wave 🌊 ! Wax is amazing and can be very protective.

Fast forward a "few" years, the same principle applies to protecting boards, in this case, your beautiful wooden cutting board. I've tried and researched a lot about the BEST type of cutting board oil that was also easy to make and contained accessible ingredients. I also didn't want to have special equipment or separated tools...this is such a lovely product and you can apply the balm with your hands (for some extra nourishment for your hands) or use a clean towel like flannel or even paper.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 oz Beeswax

  • 3 oz Coconut Oil

1 Part Beeswax to 3 Parts Coconut Oil Ratio

  1. In a double boiler, heat water on medium low

  2. Add beeswax and coconut oil to top pot, stirring occasionally

  3. Once everything is melted, remove from heat

  4. Wait a few minutes and carefully pour into desired glass or tin containers

  5. Allow to fully cool before securing lid

  6. Seal on clean wooden kitchen utensils, cutting boards, etc. 1-2 times a month or as needed
